Working Mom July 12, 2010 C. Chinn (Brentwood, CA) I dont buy my son too many toys as I would rather have him running around playing in the yard but I saw this, read the reviews and bought it. He loves it! So does his little friends when they come over for a play date. The music and sound of the gears rotating isnt the best to listen to for hours but it keeps him entertained. I recommend this toy.
lots of fun May 8, 2010 Alanna M. Powell This product is for a 1 year old but my 6 month old loves it, she learns how to take the gears on and off and she knows how to start it easily. it lights up and the music will get stuck in your head. it is lite weight and fun to rearange the colors. My husband and I like playing with it also. the gears stop very sisetivley, so it won't injure even and infants pinky finger.
Easy to lose parts, quick to get boring May 7, 2010 Sarah Anne Stewart (Hawthorne, CA) I thought that this toy would be a lot more configurable than it is. The gears do not snap on in any way - they just sit on the spools. As soon as you try to use the handle and pick up the gears, they all come falling off.
They description says that the gears can be stacked for extra playtime fun, but once again, they do not snap together and end up just being to unsteady to stack very high. You're much better off using the blocks you probably already have (don't we all have floors covered with blocks of some type?) to stack. Since the gears do not snap on, the toy must also be stored flat or the gears fall off and are lost forever - not very travel friendly. It would be a little more forgivable if there was a removable cover or case or something. As it is, I keep it up on a shelf so my dear son doesn't get to play with it very much because of the hassle involved. I ranked it low on durability because of the easily lost parts factor. Once you lose the gears, the toy is not of much use.
With this toy, you can basically put the plastic gears on and take them off. It plays some cute music (the only thing I like about the toy with a rainforesty/jungle type sound), the gears spin, and it stops. My little boy just quickly stripped the gears off, threw them all over the place, and that was the end of that.
Great for mechanically minded toddlers April 15, 2010 Michelle (Boston) If your kid loves machinery, he'll love this. The music button seems to be very rewarding for my boy and he also enjoys taking the gears on and off. He also loves stopping the motion with his finger after starting it, and I have been amazed that this doesn't pinch him or cause the toy to break. Pretty impressive! Great for older babies and young toddlers.
My Son Loves it! April 10, 2010 Katherine Wang (Dallas, TX USA) At first I thought my son would get bored with it pretty quickly, but somehow he loves playing with it! He's been playing with it for months now (he is now almost 16m old), and he loves watching me stack the wheels and take them apart himself. Although I wouldn't think of this as the most interactive/educational toy, it certainly lasts for a long time.
