Great Book! May 7, 2010 TAS (Cambridge, MA) This is, by far, my sons favorite Tag book! He's 4 and into dinosaurs so of course he likes it. But he likes it because he can go off on his own and read it. We like it too, sure it's a cute dino story, but the reading/word activities are great in this book.
4 year old can't get enough! May 2, 2010 Guatemom My 4yr old son reads this book all the time. After connecting it to the computer, I saw that he has read this book for almost 4 hours! He is learning to read because of the games at the end of this book. He quotes us dino facts all day long that he learned from this book. For any dinosaur fan, GET THIS BOOK!
Tag dinosaur book March 25, 2010 C. Hall (Texas) This is not one of my 5 year old grandsons favorites. Not a lot to read in the book.
Solo Readers Emerge March 2, 2010 J. Kling (Chicago, IL) First, on the Tag Reading system in general. My 3 and 5-yr-old boys love this system. And though I was disappointed at first that the books do not force them to highlight each word before the word is read to them, I have a different view now. The default process is that my son launches a page, and the automated reader reads the whole page to them. Here's why I now like this: My boys are thrilled to sit with these books and listen to stories. So while they are not learning to read by doing so, and not even getting the one-to-one word/sound association I'd hoped for, they are viewing reading on par excitement-wise with their other play activities.
My five-yr old actually read fairly proficiently by the time he had his first Tag reader, but he still loves to have a few of these books read to him by the "magic pen." My 6-yr old isn't as enthused, perhaps because he already reads so much on his own. T-Rex and Diego's Underwater Rescue are favorites of my 3-yr old. Lots of good sound effects. My 5-yr old loves Up! and (sigh) Walter the Farting Dog. That one came free with a purchase of a few others, for better or worse. With four boys, you can imagine the glee this book evokes.
Fantastic book, especially for dinosaur lovers! January 13, 2010 Amy Mcfarland (California) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My son received this book for Christmas, and he absolutely loves it! It's all about a little T-Rex and his mommy on a day built for roaring. After roaring all day, T-Rex's mommy goes out to find some food, but little T-Rex still wants to roar. He chases a dragonfly and ends up getting lost, so the book is all about his adventure trying to find his way home. The neat part about this book is the Tag system, with all of its neat sounds as your little one reads the book. As my son presses on each dinosaur with his Tag reader, it gives him fun facts about the dinosaur and even their sounds. It's really sparked his interest in dinosaurs. As I was putting him to bed last night he said "Mommy, did you know a T-Rex's legs were as big as a grown person??" It was adorable! We love our Tag reader, and this book is an excellent addition to my son's library!
