Love this Manhattan Toy product June 28, 2010 P. Beuoy Read mixed reviews about this product, but puchased it anyway. It has been money well spent! There are plenty of pictures and patterns that are interchangeable and visually stimulating for newborns and up. It is lightweight and easily wipes clean. You can use the supplied pictures, or easily create your own.
The infant for whom I purchased this gallery absolutely loves to look at it. It easily occupies his attention for an entire car ride. His favorite is the baby, but he stares intently at the other patterns and pictures also.
Unfortunately, the outside edges of the frame/border have curled slightly due to being left in the hot car, but it has not affected the functionality of the product. I didn't like the recommended velcro fastening system for the cars either, but, other than those two minor things, it has been a great product and I'd definitely purchase it again.
Decent distraction for drive time... April 16, 2010 Jarucia Jaycox Nirula (Seattle, WA, USA) Given my baby's love for a number of Manhattan products we own, I added this one to the list of must-have's.
Pros:
~Durable plastic holder can easily handle your own photos when baby is older
~Large images ideal for developing eyes
Cons:
~The velcro rounds on the back of the holder prone to falling off depending on how you hang it in the car
~Not as useful for rear-facing seats as bottom two images obscuring by base (using a Britax seat)
Overall a decent 'toy' for the car at about $10. Baby enjoys it the most when we pass from light to shaded areas thereby 'flashing' light on the images.
Hope this is good! March 12, 2010 Jean E. Kasten (Dresher, PA) 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
I purchased this for my 3 yr. old granddaughter based on reviews. When it arrived, I thought it lacking, but I supposed it can be tried on my infant granddaughter when she is in a front-facing car seat. Hard to imagine babies can be charmed by such simple graphics which don't move, but we'll see. Certainly not anything I could see benefiting or entertaining any child over 21 mos. old.
GREAT for babies' isolettes in the NICU! January 17, 2010 Triste (Virginia) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2DKY9OF4PWP2 My babies were born at at 26 weeks and spent four long months in the NICU. I put initially one black and white graphic in each isolette, then two, then incorporated color images as well. This is my little guy, out of the isolette and in an open crib at 34 weeks gestation, mesmerized by the kitty graphic (at 3 months adjusted, he still loves it). He would look at it and touch it for twenty to thirty minutes at a time. (I took the video for his Grammy but figured what better testament could I give to the magic of the car seat gallery?)
Good idea but didn't work for us December 26, 2009 mommy2katrina (Elk Grove, CA, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We bought this toy for our son when he was about 2 1/2 months and have had it for 2 months now. Unlike our daughter, our son does not like his carseat. If he is awake in the car for more than a few minutes, it's a given that he will cry, a lot! I'm not able to hang toys from his carseat handle according to safety instructions that came with the carseat (the handle has to be down in the car anyway) so I was looking for something we could use for him to look at for a distraction. He really enjoys his Wimmer Ferguson hanging mobile above his changing table, which we bought at the same time, but for whatever reason he hasn't taken to this one. He does look at it, but only for about a minute before resuming his usual car ride routine of crying/screaming/yelling. Like another reviewer said, it is more helpful to offer him a soft toy to hold, and I just try to time car trips during naps so he sleeps. One quality issue we had--in my opinion the velcro attachments are very flimsy and we had some problems with the gallery staying up, but that is easily fixed by replacing the velcro with heavy duty velcro you can get for cheap at WM. I think this gallery is a good idea and would probably work well for some babies, we just didn't have much luck with it.
