Warning Extremely Dangerous Avoid July 25, 2010 darkclark (san jose, CA United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We have 9 month old twin girls who liked this mirror. Seemed like a safe toy but this morning I heard one of them coughing and when I investigated I found the stitching had come undone along the side, exposing wads of the extremely fine fibrous padding material used to line the side. My daughter had a large piece of this in her mouth, which had blocked her airway and she had started choking. Only by good fortune had I heard her coughing and was able to get the material out of her mouth, which revealed a matted string had extended into her throat, causing the choking response.
In my view this could have been a fatal incident. I believe this happened because of poor manufacturing standards. The padding material should have been encased in a protective sleeve, and the stitching on the hem of the mirror should have been of a much more robust nature. It's important to note that the toy had not been abused, and I would describe the usage as pretty low. Certainly far below the point the product would start to disintegrate.
This is clearly an extremely dangerous product, which should be recalled immediately. The build quality is utterly sub standard and it's only a matter of time before someone else's child comes to harm as a result of the shoddy design and construction.
He loves it June 26, 2010 SFO online shopper (San Francisco, CA United States) The mirror is just what my 5 month old needed. He's 6 & 1/2 months now and still plays with it everyday. The mirror can easily be attached to other items like his crib or even his exersaucer. He loves his reflection. The wedge it comes on was great for tummy time too because it propped him up a bit. He's moving much more now and no longer enjoys the wedge but it was great for a bit. Now he still enjoys picking it up and moving it around. I wish I had bought it eariler.
Mirror is two-sided! June 15, 2010 S. Baze Aside from what everyone else has said about this product(simple yet versatile-can be removed from its base to hook onto a playmat or crib bars), I loved that the soft mirror can be removed from its pocket and turned over if it gets badly scratched. I have used this for both of my little ones and when I realized the mirror was easily removeable and two-sided I was excited that my second child could have a brand new scratch-free surface to look into. It now looks like new! This product is definitely worth the $.
Cute and versatile June 8, 2010 B. Yee (Redondo Beach) I just got this mirror and took it out of the box for my son to play with during tummy time. I read the reviews on it and decided on this one because of the wedge (so I wouldn't have to prop it up) and the ability to attach it to the crib or various other places. I also read that there's no distortion so I thought it would be great. I guess I must not understand what that means because I think the mirror still kinda distorts images! But for a safety mirror, I guess it's good enough. My son enjoyed looking at it and he's only 10 weeks old.
I read that someone didn't get the bright orange mirror that's in the main picture on this page, and received the purple one instead. I ordered it anyways keeping that in mind, but hoping to get the orange one still. I ended up receiving the purple one. Kind of disappointed, but the backside of the purple is very pretty.
Overall, it's a nice safety mirror.
Wonderful! And actually functional! June 3, 2010 K. M. Gu (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have had this for several years now. It's starting to show a little wear but my boy still loves it and I can still pass it down to the next kid when it comes along! It's the first baby mirror I've ever seen that isn't like a fun house mirror too! You can actually see a true reflection in it not just squiggles and blobs. Mine looks exactly like the picture here. I wish the Velcro on the straps adjusted better for crib use... There's such a difference in rail sizes these days. But for tummy time I have no complaints and my preschooler still loves to sit in front of it and make faces. ^_^
