2 out of 5 stars Not like it was when I was young   July 20, 2010
Kirstyloo
I went out looking for this type of toy for my daughter so that she would learn to manipulate things. I found this at multiple stores; however, I didn't buy it because the Ernie button didn't work well. As an adult, I had great difficulty making it pop open. My 10 month old daughter certainly wouldn't be able to do it. Again, I've been to 3 different stores and all of this toy that I've tried didn't Ernie work well. I'm not sure if they had a bad batch, bu I didn't get it because 25% of the toy was unusable for my daughter.

5 out of 5 stars Great toy, my son can play with it for long periods of time.   July 9, 2010

We purchased this toy for my son at 4 months of age. At first we would have to push the buttons for him but he caught on pretty quickly and began pushing the buttons that he could by 6 months and sometimes just pulls the doors open to hear the characters sing their catch phrase. It's stood up well to a great deal of abuse and he still loves it at 10 months.

4 out of 5 stars Musical and Fun but hard   July 6, 2010

My son received this for Christmas when he was almost a year old. The buttons are too hard for him to press. Cookie Monster's button is a push cookie, Oscar's button is a twist, those he can do. Ernie's button is a hard push down button, Elmo is a slide button, these buttons are not loose and easy to slide.

My son can't push two out of the four buttons, he gets frustrated and I've put the toy away until hes a bit older! He will probably really like it once he is strong enough to play.

4 out of 5 stars VERY LOUD!!!   December 13, 2009
Nicolette Clark (Charleston, SC)
This is the second Sesame Street toy that I've purchased that has been extremely LOUD! We have all sorts of electronic toys for my twins, including Fisher Price and Playskool and none of them have ever bothered me. This one was so loud that I was worried about my babies ears and had to put tape over the speaker. That becomes a choking hazard with my 16 month olds so I have to supervise them when they play with this (it's clear tape and so far they haven't noticed it). I wish this had a lower volume level but other than that the girls enjoy it. I do agree with what other reviewers have said that sometimes when the buttons are pressed, no songs are sung, and this can be disappointing. When it does work it's very cute and my babies like it. We've had other pop-up toys and this is by far the most popular.
