Like the idea of the wooden toy, but the jury's still out... September 3, 2010 Jamaica Stolba After much research for the "best" walker toy, I recently purchased this for my 10 1/2 month old. I really like the way it looks and the fact that it's completely wooden, and it's not obnoxious in the least. But I have to say I am disappointed in my daughter's unenthusiastic reaction to it! She is just not interested. This may be b/c it doesn't provide music or lights like some of her other toys, and the activities on this walker may be a little too advanced for her age, requiring finer motor skills than she has mastered. I am particularly not happy with the xylophone feature - it really makes no noise at all when it's tapped with the mallet! Maybe in time the toy will grow on her, and when she starts using it as an actual walker, it could end up being a favorite of hers. But I thought I'd let others know about my initial experience with this.
great toy August 30, 2010 clking The look on my grandson's face as he took hold of this toy and started walking, or should I say running!! Giggling with joy as he pushed it along. Priceless. I have never seen a one year old love a toy like this.
needs to grow into it August 29, 2010 teacher Grandma 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After reviewing a fair number of similar toys, I bought this toy as a first walker-type toy for my granddaughter who is 9months old and big for her age. It's great that it doesn't tip over easily as she pulls herself up to standing, which is a huge plus. It's also tall enough for her to stand at and explore all the different activities. I also like the fact that this is a wooden toy and has NO BATTERIES! Her mom and dad did have to take away the mallet for the xylophone, however, since the stick handle is fairly long and could easily pose a hazard for her if she fell with it, since she is still young and tends to put everything in her mouth, in addition to not being all that steady yet on her feet. She does like the little net storage compartment in the back as well as the shape-sorter, but she needs lots of interactive adult support to handle that. It may be that this is just a toy she has to grow into. It may also be that it's hard to compete with all the battery-powered interactive singing toys now on the market that I am not fond of but seem to have become a fact of life for little ones these days. Unfortunately this grandchild lives out-of-state, so I don't get to see her often enough to know if she is any more attracted to it than when I was there, but while I am pleased with the construction, I am not sure it was the most exciting choice for her. Then again, given that I abhor the battery-powered toys for kids this age, it was still better than a lot of other things I looked at.
Amazing!!! August 3, 2010 TeachingMom My daughter loves this walker. She enjoys all of the different activities on the front and sides, and it is so pretty!
First walker August 1, 2010 Sharon Drawbaugh Our 9 month old grandson is just now starting to enjoy the toy. I think he will continue to use it and explore more things to do with it. I do like the fact that we can store other little toys in the back. I also put hand weights in it so it wouldn't topple over.
